Scarlet stood at the window in a daze as the rain pelted against the glass. Small pellets of hail bounced off the ground. She loved the rain. The smell of the air as the negative ions surged through it after a storm. It was renewing, washing all of the negativity in the air away with it. She breathed in the cool, moist air and turn back toward the room. She looked at the clutter that was littering her space. She hated to throw anything away; everything had a memory attached to it. The movie ticket stub on the coffee table was both the simple of an end and a beginning. It was the last in the series. It was the end of a long chapter in her life that was her childhood. The characters had grown as she had and now, there struggle was over. Hers was in a way too. It had been such a struggle for her to get this far, to live as long as she had, even though to most people it wasn’t that long. She was still so young, but you can’t grow up with Max as a mother and not have had more to deal with than most people around you. A new chapter in her life was opening up though. She wouldn’t be fighting to stay alive; she would be fighting to win matches. She wouldn’t be depending on anyone, anymore. Now, someone was depending on her. She was part of a team. It was odd to her to be part of a team. She was always the type that liked to do things on her own. She didn’t like to rely on people because they always let her down. She was trying to give her sister a chance though.
“We’ll see what happens. Soon I will know if I can trust her.”
She was also trying to trust Jack. He obviously trusted her some or she wouldn’t be managing him. That meant a lot to her to be trusted by someone. She was not use to it. She didn’t even feel like her mother trusted her.
“They’re so trusting, when they’re young aren’t they. He’ll grow out of it soon enough.”
She turned back toward the window. Her thoughts were on the match ahead of her against her other sister, although she didn’t really see her as such. As she watched the rain flooding the grass, she saw her reflection in the window. The image of rain on her face seemed to give her strength. Rain was a part of her. She was rain. Scarlet rain. “Tiffany, you have no idea what you’re up against. When I’m done with you it will be raining scarlet.”
