Scene 1: My Death calls
Death, it’s a part of life, for the Hunter family it is a way of life. One passes and they watch them go, the Bloodline is a deadly group of assassins The Bloods were not ready to deal with a group that have ties all the way to the Royal Family, the major rulers of the world knew that if they hired a Bloodline assassin that things would get taken care of, but now that one of their own was on the list what were they going to do?
“Loren is dead… therefore Blake Archer is dead. How sad little Sprit must be.” She held a lighting bug in her hand and let it crawl around, it didn’t fly away it only world hover and land back on her hand.
“This insect reminds me of my fairy, she refuses to go into the night.” Maxine clutched her hand together and squashed the bug, it twitched in her hand as it died, but it’s light kept glowing. Maxine took the light and tossed the bug’s body away, she smeared the light across her face and looked at how the guys glowed on her skin of her hand and therefore must be on her face. She chuckled a little.
“What is best, I know that I know, but finding my answer is what’s so hard. The only people that can truly decide what is right is themselves.” Maxine smirked and laid back shutting her eyes and meditating under the sky. She was a gypsy and they hate being behind walls. As her eyes opened from her laying meditation. She got on the phone and called the number of the person she was thinking of.
<Ring,… Ring…>
“Hello…”
Maxine felt punched in the stomach, and then like her head had fallen off. “Wow you are so hard to get a hold of.”
“Ha, yeah I am.” There was a female voice on the other side of the phone.
Maxine grinned her heart was pounding rapidly; it was like talking to a ghost. A person she had not seen or heard from in nearly four years. “Speaking of which Evie complained that you owe her a match, and she also erased me from her life. Which I think she forgot will erase my blood from her as well. Can you feel the changing at all?”
The phone line had silence; Maxine wondered if she hung up, she needed to hear from her guide what these new feelings were. “Um, the seasons all became one to me Max. I wish I could separate the lies for you can and slow it all down, but that is not in my ability. If Evie erased you I don’t owe her anything, she can earn another match with me if she wants it that badly, that is the Jones’ family’s biggest downfall, they never fight for what they want, and if they do then when they reach their journeys peak they just jump back down. The chase must be more exciting than the capture… The feelings I been having Max is Blake.”
Maxine swallowed hard. “Archer is dead, did you see it in the stars?”
There was a moment of silence, then the firm female voice returned. “Who is with you?”
“A boy that is the Anti-Christ, his name is Raven Trueblood.”
“Oh god, and Anti-christ how many have we proven were false?”
“He is different Sara! I can feel it he feels like a part of my soul.” She waited as there again was a pause followed by the slightest whisper of a laugh.
“Very well, get yourself a manager though, I'd feel better. I know of the best one to call I well get a hold of her for you.”
That was before Injection, before the Television title match, before finding out Sprit was no where to be found. After the event Maxine spoke to Raven and then rushed off to call Sara Sullivan again. The phone rang and rang but no answer, had she dreamed of speaking to Sara? Maxine tossed the phone in the back of the car she was in and banged her head over the steering wheel. In the back mirror appeared Scythe Bloodline’s face with a smirk, his face was painted in a tribal design, Maxine looked up tears coming out of her wildly.
“It’s not time Jesse.”
“I know mother, but your time is coming very quickly, did you say goodbye to Evie? What about Ruth? It was very kind of Archer to fall and save his queen, but now her head will belong to me. You can’t save her she can only save herself, perhaps she will do the honorable thing and save me the trouble of collecting her head, perhaps she will just hand it to me.” He slowly chuckled.
“Ruth is not like that…” Scythe leaned up and looked at the same green eyes that made his, the same face that was shaped like his, the same lips that often would smirk like his.
“I love you mother, but this world is no longer yours. It is no longer Sprit’s and you both are clinging on, what for? Sara has let you go, Blake has left Sprit… what could you two possible have to stay for? Not the children you both have already ruined the lives of? You are never sorry for anything and all Ruth is, is sorry. She should be sorry she was ever born, she is proud of a daughter that calls up uncle Scythe to cry to. See when Ruth was missing I foreseen this tragedy. I told little Nikki that anytime she needed, big brother would be there. Now I might not be a blood brother, but we are all children of the Earth. Shane said I was sick for approaching Archer’s children. I am glad I did, who else, will they turn to in a time of despair? I worry about Tabitha and her infatuation with protecting her sister, with the fact Ruth is not even connected to this reality.”
Maxine knew the same fears, she turned and looked out the window, this was odd for Scythe to call her mother, why was he finally doing it? “If the time comes you must kill your mother then I will accept it Scythe. I have known this moment was coming since you were three years old. I tried to protect you from the cruelty of the world, I tried to make it all safe for you, but I feel I failed. I deserve to die, you deserve to have your revenge.”
Her heart sank she did feel she failed her son, she failed her daughter. Her only connection to Ruth was through the child she had with Blake, and now there is no connection at all. Scythe was right Sprit Fire is not even in this world anymore, she is only a lie floating in the air. Maxine wondered if she was also a lie. If she is then she trusts her son to remove her from the world of truth. She turned and looked back in the mirror, but there was no Scythe this time. She looked around, did she hallucinate him? She heard the beep of her phone and looked at it in the backseat. The caller ID said Nikki…
Maxine held up the phone and heard the girl answer. “Max I just called you, are you ok?”
“Y-yeah I am fine love, where is your mother?”
“I don’t know, she said we are supposed to go back to England for a holiday, but I don’t want to go. She is running away from Daddy again, what if he doesn’t find us this time?” Nikki’s voice was deeply worried, but Maxine had no idea how to help this poor girl.
“How about if Tabitha goes with you love?” Lately Tabitha and Nikki seemed stuck together like glue, since Max allowed Tabitha to go to public school with her sister it had only bonded them more.
Nikki sounded like she was crying and sniffled to stop herself. “That would be good, I don’t want to be there alone please.”
Maxine wasn’t sure that Tabitha would want to go because she was not related to any of the English people, but she also was very attached to Nikki. “I will let her know Nik.”
“Thank you.”
Scene 2: The Lady of the Lake
After Maxine had driven herself home she was faced with the fact that she was booked in a match. This is not a time to be phoning it all in, or coasting by. Ruth was not going to whine her way out of what was already set in course. The world will not stop for anyone, so where is she? Maxine thought back to when she was 24 and had met Ruth, Blake had hired her to kill her. He wanted her dead and he couldn’t bring himself to do it, he didn’t want his hands dirty.
“It was only a job, simple just kill her and make sure that he would not be blamed. The filthy girl though she tricked me, I lost a lot of myself in her. It’s my fault though I was too weak to take her over, Blake had to be put down, you understand right? Sometimes the brain just takes on its own life. Blake was something new to every person he met, poor little Ruth she never knew him and yet she weeps for his loss. Where is Sprit? She promised not to run away yet she has done that? Or was Ruth running away? You’ll never be truly free like I am, you always wish to be, and in fact I am positive a part of you envies this about me Sprit. None the less next injection I want a match with your little liar, you put your trust so blindly to the fools of the world. Zelean I know something you forgot, I know of your transgressions and I have heard how you have committed crimes against the innocent. Is there anything inside that perfect body or is it just dark hot air. I said Trent was hot air and all he did was whistle like a tea kettle. Are you the same? Prove me wrong then if you are not, don’t be like Sprit and cower away.”
Maxine rubbed her chin and paced around in the dirt driveway for a moment, she didn’t want to go in yet. Malory had lost all her clients she held under the Zena Cross alias. She thought about how things were changing, Blake won’t die, but Loren is dead. Blake will meet his brothers; time will catch up to you, which was something he always told them. Ruth didn’t realize how many of his infidelities were really out there, she was fucking a god… did she think he would remain loyal in a mortal sense of the word? There is Jessica, Angel, Sarah, Mary claims he never did anything with her, but Maxine knew he thought about it. Josie was not his type so she ruled that out. Honestly who knows how many are out there, The Diamonds had taken Blake as one of them, and he was untouchable just like Scythe was. Blake was proud that he was finally able to gain power; Blake was more famous in the ears of importance then to his own wife. He was more famous behind the scenes then in front of the camera. Maxine knew why he shot himself four years ago, it was her that he confided in. He still called her Amanda, she had dropped that stage name nearly ten years ago though.
Her thoughts return to Raven, he would not turn into Blake, he would not become corrupted like the rest of this world. She had taken back her accusation at Trent, but she wasn’t that far off it was a Brown she had guessed attacked the Wolf. She thinks for a moment.
“The last time Miss Brock and her stud of choice beat Raven and I, but this time she does not have her rabid wolf at her side. She has her dark knight, which is still unimpressive to me. I call him 265 pounds of hot air and what does Trent say, I am 265 pounds of hot air. So I at least admire your acceptance of reality. Muscle and bones, all they are to me is diner and household decorations. Raven and I are leaving Midsummer’s Scream with the tag team titles, we are going to become two time champions and show people that it takes a lot more then kisses and hand holding to be a real unit around here. These tag team titles mean more to me than anything you two could imagine. Trent you love Katherine, would you literally cut off your arm for her? What about Katherine, how deep does you affection for Trent go when your eyes wonder? My eyes might peek, but my main focus is always on gold. I’ve held that tag team championship with Sara and Raven, well Sara might like to be called my puppy dog she is far more superior then the little wolf that Katherine had. Raven on the other hand, he is a bird you idiot, how the fuck you keep a damn bird? Does it look like I have him in a cage? He can fly away whenever he wishes, but yet he stays at my side and I stay at his.”
Maxine smirked and lightly chuckled, she had caught herself shooting a promo to herself, she was becoming like everyone else. What was wrong with her that she was losing her grip on things? She just wants to win, she has to win. Her partner and her have to hold those titles, she promised Sara a preview of what would be in store if she returned. While she might be above the win loss records, Sara judges passion based off title matches. Maxine felt her insides erupt in fire and she dropped to her knees and began to weep. She thought about how Sara just left her here. She left her all alone, Ruth had taken up the slack, but just like always only Sprit matters, nobody else matters. No wonder that Loren hired her to assassinate Ruth Jones, she drove a person mad by just being an idiot.
Maxine slowly looked up and brushed away her tears, she looked in the car side mirror to make sure she still looked presentable. Her daughter cannot see her mother breaking down, and her new manager Malory was not going to be impressed with Maxine not handling her emotions.
Maxine walked into the house and was greeted by her daughter Tabitha shouting at her from the tv room. “Hey mama, welcome home!”
Maxine slightly chuckled, her daughter never got away from the tv, she played video games when she was not watching tv. Why didn’t she want to go outside and play, or walk, or something outside like Maxine used to do as a kid? Max just figured this was the way children are now, but if Tabitha really took to nature she feels like her daughter will find her place when needed. “Is Malory here sweetheart?”
Tabitha looked over at her mother and popped a potato chip in her mouth, talking over the crunch of eating the chip. “Oh yeah, she is in the study mama.”
Maxine headed into the study, the room was full of books from ceiling to the floor, it was as large as a library and Maxine had designed it specially. This entire house she had designed the blueprint for, she had a mechanical engineering degree. Maxine can build anything for just about anything it’s why she is quick to think of things for any situation. Her professors had been highly impressed at this brilliant young mind, but it grew dark quickly like all genius minds tend to do.
Maxine saw Malory tracing her hand over the books and cleared her throat to let Mal know she was there. “This is an impressive collection Miss Hunter, I see we meet again.”
“Yes, why did you get me off with those cops Malory?” Maxine asked as she folded her arms.
Malory turned and smirked at Maxine. “I got the tape, you were talking to Riot before the fire. The cops want to know what you said to him. They are ready to book you with foul play because of his disappearance and Blake’s. Yet… yet with the way that Sprit Fire woman is acting I am not writing off you being set up.”
Maxine slightly chuckled. “Ruth would never double cross me.”
“Oh don’t be so sure, challenging her husband’s dominance, and then he turned to a mistress. Riot kissing her and then her admirer goes ballistic and kills her husband and himself seemingly. Sprit was involved in screwing Riot over last Hallowicked, so why would he help her? This just stinks of something, I am a former detective Miss Hunter you remember that don’t you?” Malory eyes Maxine’s every moment.
Maxine still smirked; she had forgotten her arresting officer from thirteen years ago. Malory Yassky was a famous homicide detective, and had arrested Maxine for several murders. Yassky was the one that had followed up on all the evidence, Maxine wondered what the woman found out about her. Then Sara had helped her escape from prison and erase her existence, Amanda Young was dead, all that was left was Maxine Hunter.
Maxine Hunter, she thought to herself. She is different than Amanda Young, she is as dark and pure as the earth under her feet. As she thought she looked over at Malory who was waiting for her answer. “Yes I remember. What makes you come back here now?”
Malory placed a book back in its place and turned her full attention to Maxine. “Zelean White, you trained her along with Alayna?”
“Yeah somewhat last summer, it was a three month class they took to place on their resume I think.”
Malory seemed to grow more serious in the face and Maxine took notice. Why would Zelean White make her return?
“See Maxine, you and I have something in common, we don’t like other people playing with our toys. I always found that fascinating about you, and I looked the other way so my prodigy could bang some stupid girl, but she sunk her claws into him and wouldn’t let go, in fact it was sad to watch and I signed with Dolphus to just get away from it. Adam failed me so I descided that the Apex Predator would fill in where Adam stopped.” Her voice paused and got sadder, but it was not even noticeable unless you were deeply paying attention.
“He had such potential, he was the UK Champion, and he could have became the TV Champion, the tag team champion… Adam had all the talent, but Zelean got into his head and planted that little parasite of an image she is. Then Dolphus took pity on me and found me a new young gunn to train, I felt like the future still had a place, I finally have my champion… and again Zelean walked in and took away another client. With Dolphus injured I am out of a job, and you are not far from a battle with this hardcore Queen are you?” Malory looked at Maxine and thought of her next words.
“She reminds you of Nikki doesn’t she?”
“SHUT UP!” Maxine shouted and slammed her fist on a table.
Malory grinned a little and walked past Max, then turned and spoke again. “Raven nearly had the win, his ring work is violent, but he needs to think more like Dresden. Dolphus is not easily sidetracked, he doesn’t turn on till inside that ring. I don’t really approve of outside relationships, but if Mikalah proves herself to me I don’t see a problem with it, that is for another time though. What I want to talk to you about Maxine, is me managing you. The Black Widow and the World’s Toughest, the Demonic Dominatrix and the cruelest bitch ever born. I just don’t want you to ever break your tie to me like my others have done, a vow that can’t be broken ever, would you take that with me?”
Maxine shook as she still stared at her fist that was on the table. She could feel the invisible hand that was tightening around her heart and making her chest feel tight. Her eyes were wide as she thought, there is no real world, and there is only Maxine Hunter. At this moment she had the famous Zena Cross, the woman Malory Yassky wanting to manage her… Nobody liked Malory, they either respect her, fear her, or they hate her. Maxine felt Malory’s hand slide up her back and over her shoulder.
“You don’t have to Max, I understand… you are in love with Ruth Jones, it’s why Sara left isn’t it?” Malory still held on to Maxine’s shoulder, and had no reply. Maxine just shoot and held herself back from breaking into tears.
“You hate her don’t you? To be in love for fifteen years and never have it returned, not even a little. What a horrible burden to carry, why do you let her tug you along on your puppy leash? I cannot speak for him, but even your friend Raven must see this. Just let go of her Maxine, she doesn’t want you… but I want you, I am here not Sprit Fire. You want infinite power don’t you Maxine? When you were younger you looked up at the sky and prayed for it, you prayed for the power of god. When that failed what did you do? You took things in your own hands… you killed your own father, you killed a man that rapped you by seducing him and slicing his throat. Then you set the mansion that had been your only home, you let it turn to ashes and become one with the earth. I know all there is to know about you Maxine, what does Sprit know?” Malory tilted her head, her hair slightly fell in front of her face, but Maxine wasn’t looking at her, she was thinking.
The tag titles were right in front of her and Raven was on the same wave length as her. She was not the master; he was not her master… she loves Raven, but she is not in love with him. Is she in love with Ruth? She thought she was over this phase, why was she still caring about somebody that she wished to kill every day? “Sprit will never leave me, Ruth would never leave or betray Naomi! Not even death separates their love, no matter how much she is told to leave she won’t go away. Maxine chuckled and whipped away what could have been tears or nervous sweat, and she shook her head. “Sprit is not leaving, she is not that weak. She is Ruth, she is devoted far beyond death. I admire that she never lets go of anything, I admire that she is modest to the point of being ignorant. I wish I was lucky enough to be blind like her, but I am not. You’ll see Malory, you’ll see that Sprit Fire would not abandon me… I am fighting Zelean White and breaking whatever spell that little greedy bitch has on her!”
Malory pulled away from Maxine and smirked as she crossed her arms over her chest. “Right, and what about the tag team titles, you know that woman only cares about gold. She nearly destroyed her husband for that Universe Title, yet she is tossing herself at Zelean, just face it Maxine… your Sprit has moved on and doesn’t care about you anymore.”
Maxine turned and nearly smacked Malory, but she held back and sighed. “Where are the papers to sign?”
Malory smirked and walked over to a table and pulled up a stack of papers with extremely tiny writing. “I can give you anything you want you know.”
Maxine nodded. “I know, Dorian and Drake already have told me about you and your lifetime contracts.”
Malory smirked and her light brown eyes seemed to reflect the light as if she was some heavenly angel, but Maxine got the complete opposite vibe off of her. “Politicians use lies to cover up the truth, and artist use lies to reveal the truth. I take pride in the souls I accumulate Max, but I never trap them they trap themselves. How about I give you a freebie? You are already going to win the tag titles according to you, so how about you show me that hatred you have for Zelean, or the deep obsession that burns for Sprit Fire, at Midsummer’s Scream I actually want to hear it in the air, I want to hear the Raven laughing at his companion’s deeds. Make me proud Maxine, and I will manage you free of charge.”
Maxine’s heart leaped into her throat, for free? All she had to do was put herself completely into this pay per view? Was there a catch, there is always a catch. What would Sprit think though? Why was Sprit worried about Zelean when she was still around? Maxine glanced back over at Malory and held out her right arm, Malory grinned and placed her hand halfway along Maxine’s arm and they locked together. “Lost in time or space, forever I will see your face. This is a vow I will never break or forever my soul you may take.”
Malory again grinned accepting this as a good enough oath and let go of her arm, she looked down as a tattoo seemed to have appeared in white ink on her light skin. Maxine looked at her own arm having the same design and color ink, though it was not noticeable on her white pale skin. Malory patted her lightly on the head. “That’s a good girl, give my condolences to your precious Ruth.”
Malory left coldly and the scene fades away, Maxine thought about it. She was losing her mind and very rapidly, what was she suppose to do again? Win… win what? Win the tag team title match, why did she need to win? Because she was told to do so, failing is not an option unless she is prepared to die. Maine is far from giving into death, so those tag team titles are like a deer standing in front of her and she is a large cat that is on her last few seconds before starving to death. All the energy that is left inside of her must go into this match, anything else she would deal with after the final bell.
